Needs assessment is a very important part of helping either an individual or a group. Here at Cambridge EAP, we look at what you can do right now and where you want to be in the future, we consider how much time you have and design a study programme that matches your needs.
We believe that good advice should always be free and this means when you contact us, we’ll take you through a very thorough assessment of your current language ability before suggesting how best to help you. And, as each person is different, the assessment for each client is also chosen specifically for them. We will take the time to make sure we know exactly where you are, and how to help you achieve those goals. There’s no commitment to continue classes with us.
Whether you decide to continue classes with us or not, Cambridge EAP exists to provide specialist and professional guidance so that you can make an informed choice about what’s right for you.

We aim to provide effective and efficient tuition based on your needs, so the more information you can let us know, the better! From the moment you contact us, we spend time to make sure your needs, so think about these points:
- Have you had any experience of this language area before?
- If you’re looking for help with an exam, have you done this exam before and what were your scores?
- Is there a deadline that you need to reach your goal by?
- Based on your experience, what would you say are your strengths and weaknesses?
- How often would you like to have classes?
After we know more about your needs, you’ll be sent some material relevant to area of English you’d like to improve. Once we have this material returned, we’ll next organise a date and a time to meet up with you where we will:
- Go through each part of the assessment with you, explaining the parts where there were difficulties and helping you understand the correct answers.
- Provide full answer keys and scripts so that you can review again the assessment at home afterwards.
- Discuss your existing study habits, and then suggest ways to introduce new daily and weekly practices that’ll help you begin to actively improve your English.
- Propose a study programme based on your schedule, making sure you know how many classes will be necessary and when they’ll finish.
- Answer any questions you may have about your language goals, all over which we’ll provide too!
